What do you get when you have a gorgeous mountain, beautiful lake and an all around amazing couple?! The most amazing engagement session I’ve ever done to date! I was thrilled when Holly reached out for me to do their photos. I am shooting her sisters wedding this fall, which is how she heard about me. Emily was absolutely fantastic during our face to face meeting, so I knew it would be a great time with her sister as well. It makes my job so much easier when you have people that are easy going, and get my sense of humour. Holly and Owen definitely did!
Foley mountain has always been a place on my list to shoot at. What made this even sweeter was that we had the place all to ourselves. The weather was calling for rain, and although it did rain all day, it stopped for the whole session and started, literally, 5 minutes after we were done. We couldn’t of asked for better timing!
When we met up at the mountain, I informed Holly and Owen that I love using prompts with my clients as it makes for more natural, candid photos. I just want to capture you being you, and the best way to do that is to act like I am not even there. However, that can be a bit tricky with my massive camera pointing straight at you. What the prompts do, although VERY silly at times, is get you laughing and make you feel more relaxed just being yourself. I may tell you to brush the hair out of her face, or whisper your favourite cereal into your partners ear with your sexiest voice (photo of that reaction below!)…Holly and Owen were down for anything, and that’s what made for such a fun evening!
I knew that after Foley Mountain we were going to head back to Holly’s family cottage, however I did not know that they were wanting to brave the water. When Owen told me their plan was to get in the water for some photos, I do believe I fist pumped the air a few times. I was so excited! A water session was (and will forever be) on my photography bucket list. It did not disappoint.
After the swim, they cuddled up to get warm with their dog (seriously the sweetest dog ever!) and Denny’s mugs! This was adorable. Holly and Owen both went to culinary school and worked in the kitchen at Denny’s, which is where they met. The cuteness of this couple was almost to much to handle <3.
As you can see above, Holly and Owen made an AMAZING charcuterie board and welcomed me inside the cottage for a bite to eat and a glass of wine. It was the sweetest thing ever! I really did not want the night to end, I feel like we could have talked for hours.
Thank you Holly and Owen for being such amazing humans! I can’t wait until our next session together!
See you both this fall!
